DON'T FORGET!
Annual Meeting - May 17, 2008
New!
March 2008 Newletter

March 2008

Hello folks!  Another Spring has come to Burnett Ranch.  We have had our March meeting and here are the highlights
  • Please don’t forget!!! The annual meeting will be on May 17, 2008 at 11 a.m.  and we will eat at noon. THIS IS A VOTING MEETING!!  Everyone is to bring chairs, drinks, and a side dish for bar-b-que provided by the board.  ***IMPORTANT!! *** Any and all members wishing to run for office, or to nominate a willing candidate, please contact Loretta Robinson, or Rita Peck.  We welcome your involvement!

  • Our first order of business was to address the issue of illegal parking and trespassing into the park.  We had our county commissioner, Will Conley, the county road engineer, Jerry Borcherding, and the county constable, Larry Ayers, all there to inform and advise the board on relevant issues concerning our park and trespassing.  A plan will be presented at the annual voting meeting on May17th 2008.  We propose to move the cables and posts up to almost the edge of the road, eliminating the possibility of parking in the right-of-way, and creating several parking areas along the pecan bottom area that will be accessible only to Burnett Ranch landowners.  We are investigating “pervious cover” for these areas, that will prevent erosion, but still allow parking. Mr. Borcherding will come and discuss this at our annual meeting. We will delineate the plan with graphics and explanations at the meeting, and the plan will be presented for a vote.

  • The financial committee presented its audit of our books, and all is well in this department, thanks to the competence of our secretary/treasurer, Loretta Robinson.

  • We revisited the issue of the gate at the end of Sandy Point Rd., at the upper end of our park, which allows access to landowners.  We discussed moving our gate out of the river bottom area, and placing it at the end of the pavement. We have also discussed this issue with our county commissioner and road engineer.  This is a work in progress.

  • The legal committee met on Jan 12th 2008.  They discovered that our tax status of "agricultural restricted"" is in compliance for the actual usage of our park, and we can opt to continue this status.  Another option would be to use our status as a POA (Property Owner's Association) park.  Our taxes would probably be less under this designation, but we are researching the ramifications of changing this.  It will be an item presented at the annual meeting for a vote by the members.

  • After discussion with Will Conley and Jerry Borcherding, it has been agreed that the county will place a “No Parking” sign  near the pull-out next to the low water bridge, in an attempt to end the  dangerous and illegal parking at this location.

  • Spring Clean-up will be the second Saturday in April, which is the 12th.   April 19th  will be our alternate day, in case of rain on the 12th.

  • Our Bulletin Board project is now in the hands of Oliver Moore, as Kelly Robinson’s health prevented him from completing this project.  Thank you Oliver.
